Prescribing Doctors

Panacea Healthcare’s Network of Doctors across the UK provide a full-range of GP and medical services. Our doctors operate from clinics as well as undertaking ‘At Home’ visit consultations to patient’s homes and places of work and being available to prescribe for Addiction Treatment Centres.

NHS GP Addiction treatment provision

Whilst GP’s have a general knowledge about addictions they themselves acknowledge that they do not have an in depth knowledge to treat full complexities of addiction. NHS GP’s do not have Practise resources to deliver a wide range of Addiction treatment services, with most only being able to offer appointments for a course of counselling (which is often not even specialist addictions counselling, but is delivered by ‘generalist’ counsellors) with a limited number of GP’s being able to offer appointments with specialist alcohol or addictions nurses, who again have access to a limited range of interventions.

All NHS GP’s are mandated to refer all drug and alcohol clients to their local NHS Drug or Alcohol Treatment Teams who will take clients through their ‘community treatment’ programmes with whatever their waiting lists are.

The private alternative

Our network of Prescribing Doctors and private GP’s can provide specialist prescribing services, including being able to prescribe methadone.

Detoxification prescribing is off course only the first part of the life-long recovery process and Panacea’s Treatment Planning Teams can not only get you an appointment with a private doctor, we can plan an entire recovery journey and provide the coaching, help and support for the addict and the people close to them.

Treatment Centre Prescribing

Our doctors can provide in-clinic prescribing for Addiction Treatment Clinics either at short notice or as a planned and continuing service.
